Job Description: |
• Monitor the characteristics of high-quality learning, and promote strategies for sustaining and improving high standards of teaching, learning and achievement for all pupils. • Abide by Student Support guidelines on monitoring special educational needs, gifted and talented needs, EAL, differentiation, enquiry methodology, assessment, and ICT for learning and teaching. • Ensure the proper administration and conduct of IB assessment. • Know and understand the IB curriculum, and be aware of the Lower Secondary and IGCSE curricula. • Comply with the school’s Health and Safety Policy and undertake risk assessments as appropriate. • Monitor IB students according to their educational needs, including special and/or linguistic needs. • Support IB staff, including mentoring, conducting appraisals, and modelling teaching and learning. • Work closely with other Secondary Coordinators, Heads of Departments, and Office Staff. • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. • Contribute to subject meetings, discussions, and management systems necessary to coordinate the work of the department, and integrate this into the work of the school as a whole. • Promote equal opportunities within the school so that students may reach their potential. • Liaise and work with the University Guidance Counsellor on students’ career planning. • Plan for and adhere by the IB annual budget. • Control and oversee the use and storage of teaching materials provided for class usage. • Analyse and interpret relevant assessment data and international school research evidence to inform policies, practices, expectations and teaching methods. • Establish and implement clear practices for assessing, recording and reporting on pupil attainment, and for using this information to recognise achievement and to assist pupils in personal target setting. • Lead the school through the five-year cycle for re-accreditation by the IB. |
