Job Description: YCIS Puxi Vice Principal Job Description
Embodying the detailed elements of the Puxi Common Purpose and the YCIS Mission, Principles and Practices documents, Vice-Principals play a key role in enhancing the learning and organisational culture within all of the YCIS Puxi locations.

Creating clarity that builds the capacity of all academic staff to contribute positively to the workplace is a core responsibility of the position. This is achieved through providing leadership that creates ever improving workflow for staff through refining processes and policies and by assisting staff, students and parents to gain a deeper understanding of the YCIS Puxi Common Purpose and the Mission, Principles and Practices of the YCIS.

Vice-Principals see the potential for collaborative projects within and across campuses and support such projects to be realized. Vice-Principals provide support that facilitates the documentation of such projects to ensure quality assurance and facilitate the sharing of this developing expertise across YCIS Puxi.

Vice-Principals liaise with, and support, existing team and leadership structures to co-ordinate the delivery of highly effective teaching and learning practices and programs within a specific location and across YCIS Puxi. The Vice-Principals support the capacity of all academic staff to generate greater alignment of teaching and learning approaches, curriculum development and organisational process that extends across all three YCIS Puxi locations.

General Responsibilities
• promote the YCIS Mission, Principles & Practice;
• actively support and promote the Puxi Common Purpose by engaging staff in the process of implementation;
• actively engage with established learning communities within YCIS Puxi and beyond;
• lead, support and promote school-based teaching and learning initiatives, as appropriate;
• actively collaborate with a wide range of staff to further develop learning communities;
• lead staff in the process of change management that aims to shift practices and align pedagogical thinking and practice;
• lead quality assurance processes in relation to teaching and learning;
• work with relevant staff to develop programs and responses as a result of data analysis of internal and external assessments of student attainment;
• work with the Co-Principals develop plans for further development and improvement across YCIS Puxi;
• liaise with YCIS Marketing Division to create documents suitable for promotion of YCIS Puxi;
• role model required professional behavior of an educator within and beyond the school;
• exhibit a growth mind set to all circumstances of challenge;
• lead and assist others responsible for coordinating curriculum review and reporting according to the requirements of the various accreditation authorities (e.g. CIS, NEASC, NCCT);
• any other tasks assigned by the Co-Principals.


Staffing & Recruitment:
• assist Co-Principals with staffing projection processes providing accurate data on current and future needs;
• liaise with HR and Co-Principals with regards to staffing needs;
• interview and vet prospective incoming staff assisted by relevant leaders;
• complete reference checks and other background searches as necessary;
• represent the school at recruitment fairs as required;
• assist with transition processes for new staff.

Appraisal
• Work with relevant staff to:
• provide clear and effective feedback to staff regarding performance and improvement as per YCIS Appraisal policy and processes;
• visit classrooms to observe and assess teacher practice.
Curriculum:
• provide effective support and direction to nominated teams to ensure quality assurance regarding curriculum documentation across all three YCIS Puxi locations;
• assist leaders with the responsibility to plan, document and deliver schemes of work, to develop and document curriculum as per school policies;
• provide support to staff to maintain appropriate data as required for YCIS accreditation purposes;
• monitor and provide coaching to other leaders and staff, as appropriate;
• liaise with other staff as required;
• assist others to co-ordinate and implement targeted professional learning activities for staff and ensure that feedback from the experience is provided;



Behaviour Management
• assist staff to resolve student management issues ensuring outcomes are consistent with school policies and practices;
• lead staff in the appropriate resolution of issues that emerge between any combination of our key stakeholders.

Data
• Work with relevant staff to:
• institute processes to capture, analyse and present data on teaching and learning practices;
• co-ordinate and lead the use of data and analysis to report and address the needs of strategic planning to improve student learning opportunities and experiences in the school;
• liaise with relevant staff responsible for the collection and analysis of data to produce data trend documents;
• Support staff to use data when creating student reports.
Professional Development
• Work with relevant staff to:
• develop and review a yearly plan for professional development;
• assist PD Co-ordinators and other relevant staff to identify and promote appropriate external PD;
• play a key organisational and leadership role during internal PD Days run by YCIS Puxi;
• Present to staff when internal and external PD opportunities arise.
Community

Work with relevant staff to:
• promote parent understanding of the educational programs YCIS Puxi provides;
• connect to the wider school community through curriculum alignment tasks;
• promote YCIS learning opportunities and experiences at conferences, through collaborative professional learning groups, and within in the broader community;
• Respond to and resolve parent issues as arise.
Administrative Elements

• Ensure the daily operation of the relevant YCIS Puxi location runs as required;
• support processes that lead to the efficient and effective learning, assessment and exam results;
• ensure the short and long term planning for the development of learning and organisational culture of YCIS Puxi is effected;
• ensure any allocated budget is expended as appropriate;
• approve PRO forms up to 5000 RMB in consultation with Co-Principals;
• work with Admissions staff to promote and support prospective enrolments;
• liaise with Supporting Division to ensure purchased items meet the identified needs, and that repair of facilities are effected as desired.
