for Physical Education. All YCIS schools are responsible for utilising the YCIS Curriculum Framework, including the essential knowledge, skills, concepts and enduring understandings, to develop their own school-based curriculum. At YCIS Beijing, the P.E. department has been working with members of each Learning Community in the Primary School to plan collectively using Understanding by Design (UbD) principles, as well as Visible Thinking strategies, with a view to creating opportunities for Project Based Learning (PBL).
In the Secondary We have an energetic team of four P.E. teachers who work collaboratively to deliver the YCIS curriculum, IGCSE P.E. and IB Sports programmes. The Department has a recently refurbished gymnasium, two outdoor playgrounds, and access to local facilities, such as the neighbouring Honglingjin park, and the swimming pool and basketball courts at 1872, a residential complex across the road from the school.
Students in the Primary School follow the YCIS Curriculum Framework developed using the English National Curriculum School, the P.E. department offers the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) IGCSE in Physical Education, as well as IB Sports, Exercise, and Health Science, available at both Higher Level and Standard Level.
The main role of the Primary P.E. Teacher is to maximise student learning and progression through the planning, preparation and delivery of programmes which meet students’ individual learning needs, whilst achieving specific student outcomes.
