| Job Description: |
SSS Teacher Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Supports the Organisation’s Mission, Principles and Practices • In collaboration with Admissions personnel, assess new SSS students on entry and recommends class placement. • Maintains a 0-8 SSS register, share this with the School Leadership Team (ECE & Primary SLT) and Head of SSS. • Supports parents in gaining access to information on their child’s SSS needs and oversee on-sight therapy programs for 0-8. • Use evidence-based pedagogical strategies to support SSS needs and academic success. • Conduct SSS observations based on teacher referrals. • Plan and coordinate push-in, pull-out SSS sessions • Partner closely with homeroom teachers, the Head of SSS, year level EAL teacher and other staff to create an inclusive learning environment for SSS students. • Provide 0-8 SSS training, resources, and guidance to staff on best practices to support second language learners for both Western & Chinese staff. • Support Head of SSS leader to develop materials and resources to meet the specific needs of SSS students. |

General Skills, Qualifications and Expectations: • Bachelor’s Degree in Education • Masters in Special Education (or equivalent) • Possess valid teaching licence • Experience in developing and overseeing external therapy onsite for SSS students(e.g. OT, Speech etc) • Experience in working with evaluations by qualified professionals (e.g., educational psychologists, diagnosticians) when there is a suspected disability or the need for more comprehensive assessment • Experience in developing and continually reviewing ISPs and IEPs • Proven experience teaching SSS learners, ideally in an international school setting • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills (bilingual an advantage) • Passion for supporting 0-8 SSS students and a commitment to ongoing professional growth • A creative problem solver, a good team player, flexible to adapt changes • Able to work under pressure, high stress resistance
Professional Development: • Is a reflective learner who takes responsibility for professional development and progression (taking into account the school’s priorities, their own professional needs and which support students’ learning), making full use of the opportunities and training provided by the school; • Reviews, promotes and implements enhanced SSS practices by research into best practices and by seeking and using regular feedback from the SLT, colleagues, parents and students (including alumni data as necessary) for ongoing improvement.
