Job Description: YCIS Hong Kong (Primary) is seeking passionate and dedicated full-time Music Teacher, specializing in Violin, to deliver classes to Year 1 to Year 3 students, which provides practical integration with our formal music curriculum. For 2025-26, we are seeking qualified and experienced instructors to help develop our programmes and contribute to a thriving musical life at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

- Teach groups of students (up to a maximum of 13 students per class) from Year 1 to Year 3 during school hours, conducting sessions twice weekly for 30 minutes each.

- Engage, inspire, and motivate students to develop an interest in instrumental music.

- Encourage students to share their musical talents through performances.

- Cater to students of varying skill levels, from beginners to those with one to two years of instrumental experience.

- Demonstrate effective classroom management skills to foster a positive learning environment, aligned with the YCIS mission and its principles and practices.

Other Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver a tailored learning programme that addresses each student's individual needs and learning styles.

• Teach foundational music theory to support the learning of the instrument.

• Participate in, or potentially direct, instrumental ensembles as opportunities arise.

• Prepare students for class performances and other performance opportunities within the school, as advised by the Arts Programme Officer.

• Attend evening End of Year Concerts , for which remuneration will be provided.

• Prepare assessment reports and conduct evaluations for each student at the conclusion of each semester.

• Attend teacher meetings as advised by the Specialist Team Leader for Music.

Additional Requirements:

• A recognised university degree or diploma in music, or an equivalent qualification; possession of a teaching qualification is highly desirable.

• A minimum of two years of teaching experience, including group instruction.

• Familiarity with lesson planning and contemporary music education methodologies.

• Candidates should ideally demonstrate enthusiasm, adaptability, strong communication skills, creativity, and the ability to work effectively within a team.

• Proficiency in performing on the violin at a high level (equivalent to an ABRSM Diploma); skills on additional instruments will be considered an asset.

• Demonstrates patience, the ability to work independently, effective problem-solving skills, and proficiency with relevant technological tools.

• Fluency in English, with proficiency in Mandarin and Cantonese considered highly desirable.
